Sacha Inchi is a plant native to the Amazon basin. First cultivated by indigenous communities it's now becoming more and more popular. Harvested from the Sacha Inchi plant is a fruit shaped as a star with 4 to 7 pods. In each pod there is a seed similar looking to an almond. Once unshelled the seed has a cream color.
Sacha Inchi is categorized as an oil seed because of its high oil content. Studies have shown that its protein content is 33% and that about 50% of the Sacha Inchi seed is composed of unsaturated fatty acids.
It's the oil with the highest concentration of Omega-3 fatty acids in nature. It's also high in antioxidants, helps lowering cholesterol, triglycerids, as well as inflammatory levels.
